We are partnering with a highly regarded and rapidly growing organization in the homebuilding industry to identify a strategic and operationally focused Division CFO. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving financial performance, strengthening operational controls, and partnering closely with division leadership to support continued growth.

Position Overview
The Division CFO will serve as the senior financial leader for the division, providing oversight across all financial and operational functions. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic planning initiatives.
The role requires a hands-on leader who can partner cross-functionally across sales, construction, land development, and purchasing to ensure financial discipline and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial functions for the division, including reporting, forecasting, and long-range planning
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and a comprehensive five-year business plan to senior leadership
- Establish, implement, and monitor internal controls across key operational areas, including:
- Sales and closings
- Purchasing and accounts payable
- Construction and land development
- Job starts and cost tracking
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and corporate financial policies
- Oversee the monthly close process to ensure accuracy and adherence to corporate timelines
- Evaluate and approve land acquisition opportunities, ensuring alignment with financial and strategic criteria
- Monitor development and construction budgets, identifying variances and validating supporting documentation
- Partner with department leaders to assess processes and implement improvements that drive efficiency and scalability
- Ensure team members are properly trained on financial systems (including JD Edwards or similar ERP platforms)
- Promote financial discipline across the organization, reinforcing company philosophy and cost management practices
- Analyze and implement process improvements leveraging technology and best practices
- Maintain a strong presence across all departments to support operational alignment and decision-making
- Travel as needed to support business operations
Leadership Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and develop a small team (3 employees)
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Provide mentorship and guidance to staff and cross-functional partners
Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or operational finance
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business systems
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, internal controls, and process optimization
- Direct experience in the homebuilding industry
- Candidates with construction industry experience may be considered if they demonstrate stable, consistent tenure
- Prior experience in a Controller or similar leadership role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across departments
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
